John Powers

Founder of Alliance for Sustainable Colorado and full-time volunteer. Mr. Powers is currently a member of the Greenprint Council, a citizens’ advisory committee to the Mayor of Denver’s Sustainable Development Initiative. He has been a board member of Colorado Conservation Voters since 2000, the Colorado Environmental Coalition since 1996, and the Educational Foundation of America since 1986. He was a member of the management committee of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, 1991-1993; volunteer organizer of annual conferences for the Environmental Grantmakers Association, 1989-1994; Swiss product manager and store manager, Microland S. A., Geneva, Switzerland, 1984-5; real estate salesperson and broker 1974-80; assistant chief steward, Sonesta Hotel, Amsterdam, Holland, 1979; Principal, J.P. Powers & Co., real estate investment and ranching interests since 1974; M.B.A., Finance, University of Colorado, 1983; B.A., History and Psychology, Oberlin College, 1971.
