Living City Block’s Sister Neighborhood Program
Identifying and establishing LCB Sister Neighborhoods along the Front Range that are implementing their own work is essential to the long term success of Living City Block. We are already working with the City and County of Denver, individual City Council Members, and local business associations, building and business owners to launch LCB projects in additional neighborhoods in Denver. Working with these developing partnerships will ensure that each sister neighborhood is uniquely designed to its own business needs, social and financial economies, and culture.
What we look for in a Sister Neighborhood:
Local Partnerships
- A local Non-government organization willing to help organize and project manage the Sister Neighborhood project. This NGO will be jointly responsible for identifying the actual block, recruiting building owners and business partners, and helping with fundraising efforts. It can be a business association or a neighborhood association
- Local City Council and other government assets available to assist with city involvement and integration
- An academic institution committed to research about and support of the neighborhood
Location
- Within close proximity to a key city transit hub or in desperate need of new last mile transportation solutions
- Within or close to a local business district (redevelopment, or new development, needed is not a hinderance)
- Both sides of at least one street available for community and street scape activation and creation of “place”
- Desired Building Types:
- Mixed use including office, retail and housing (rented and/or owned)
- Buildings to be less than 10 stories
- Mix of building eras if possible
- Some infill opportunity or scrape and build opportunities
- Clear access to infrastructure and street improvements (city and regional willingness)
Ownership
- Multiple owners
- Minimum 80% of owners commit to project goals with no non-disclosure agreements
- Owners Willing to share utility and cap ex improvement records
- Owners willing to aggressively invest in energy and resource efficiency under a viable business case with new financing models considered (local banking involvement at some level)
